What is exactly SEO and why does everyone mention it all the time?

Search Engine Optimization is a tool that can help any business appear in the first Google searches

While I am writing this post, I am using SEO tools that can help me boost this article. For example, I repeat “SEO” because search engines look for consistent keywords. So, I use this word as it is the main topic of my article.

Another SEO tool I am using are titles and subheadings. A strong title attracts readers, and subheadings help them find and know if the article have the information they are looking for.

As Britney Muller mentions in the Beginner’s Guide to SEO, “The truth is, although Google looks for mentions of keywords and related concepts on your site’s pages, the page itself has to add value outside of pure keyword usage. If a page is going to be valuable to users, it won’t sound like it was written by a robot, so incorporate your keywords and phrases naturally in a way that is understandable to your readers.”

I agree with this statement as I have also seen that many page contents just keep repeating a word, hoping they will rank in the top 5, but you need to make your content valuable, and care about the information you are giving your readers.

Another SEO tool I am using is an image with alternative text. Alt text assists visually impaired people in understanding what the image is showing making content more inclusive. At the same time search engines use this text to understand your website which can improve the SEO.

  1. Use keywords
  2. Use headings and subheadings
  3. Apply alt-text on your photos
  4. Share valuable information
  5. Link to other content you created
